Touring with Scissors 2000
Where - New London, CT
Date - February 3rd, 2000
Time - 7:30 - 10:00 (apx.)
Overview
This was the first concert
I had a chance to see from the 2000 tour (other than WAY Live!) and let me
tell you.... It kicked ass. I had some of the worst seats in the place (the
back of the balcony) but I still loved it.
After about a half hour of venue promotions, and a really
bad comedian, the show started. The events thereafter can only be described
as ecstasy, a pure enrichment of the human soul, and an awesome
concert.
Opening
A Series of very weird videos,
preparing you for what you're about to see: "The Weird One" I could
hardly see the screen for the entire show because of the lighting placement,
but what I could see thoroughly amused.
Overall Concert
I'm not going to review individual songs, but I will
comment on the show as a whole.
Al performed excellently. He didn't miss a beat, except
for when he started to lose his voice, which is my only complaint about the
show. (I actually felt bad for Al, more than I was disappointed.) Al's voice
started to crackly on some of the high notes, so much so that I thought his
microphone broke. Oh well.
The rest of the band performed extremely well. Jim, Steve,
Jon, and Ruben are some of the best musicians I've heard, and their talents
are very well showcased.
Well, other than a few sketch changes (ruben gets shot
twice) the show was exactly the same as on the "Weird Al" Yankovic live video.
(with the concert only songs.) So If you really want to know what the show
was like, buy that. :)
Oh, also the lighting in Al's concerts is excellent,
everyone I was with was commenting on how beautiful the colors looked together.
Mad props. (I can't beleive I used that phrase.)
I apologize for the shortness
of this review, but I'm tired.
